Which Lawn Care Package Is Right For Me?
We recommend TruMax for customers who want the most complete lawn care package and an easier way to maintain a greener, healthier lawn throughout the year. It includes the core treatments needed to improve lawn health, colour, density and resilience in every season.
TruMax combines seasonal lawn treatments with mechanical services carried out at key points during the year. Together, these treatments help create a healthier, greener lawn while tackling common problems such as moss, weeds, thin grass, compacted soil and patchy growth.
Although TruMax is our most comprehensive lawn improvement plan, we understand that every lawn and budget is different. Our other lawn care packages let you focus on your main priorities while choosing the level of treatment that best suits your needs and budget.
We will discuss your lawn, priorities and budget before recommending the most suitable package for your needs.

Our Lawn Care Services
Lawn Fertilisers
Fertilisation is a lawn treatment that provides, or supplements, the natural nutrients needed to become a healthy lawn. There are 5 types of seasonal fertilisers that we apply across the year, which are there to support the lawn growth for each key season.
- Season Starter – This first application is designed to help the grass begin the growth cycle and to strengthen the grass plants and roots, rather than encourage leaf growth
- Spring Shoots – Spring is a fantastic time of year, and it is all about encouraging new growth, so whilst we continue to apply a balanced feed, we turn up our nitrogen rate to kickstart the new season.
- Summer Shine – With the fertiliser itself, we are looking to invigorate the grass against the stresses of summer and to help strengthen the plant during high temperatures.
- Autumn Endurance – We now re-focus our fertiliser on what is going on below the soil surface, applying a high phosphorus application that will help strengthen the roots and allow a strong grass plant to be resilient against autumn disease
- Winter Guard- This application sees our lowest nitrogen of the season, whilst dialling up our balance between potassium and phosphorus, as well as including some key micro-nutrients.
Weed Control
Unfortunately, even the best-kept lawns are susceptible to weeds. We help to remove them and keep them at bay by using herbicides to destroy the weed plants. It is worth noting that weed control is an ongoing process, and it is well worth persevering so that your lawn can be weed-free and healthy.
Moss Control
Moss is something that every lawn suffers from at one time or another. Unless treated and removed, moss will continue to choke out the grass plants. You’ll typically find moss growth in lawns that have poor drainage. In order to eradicate moss, we need to eradicate the conditions in which it grows, followed by our professional moss control treatments. We do not use over the counter treatments, but specially designed moss control treatments that are only available to professionals such as TruGreen.
Aeration
This is the process of punching numerous holes in the upper soil profile of a lawn. This mechanical process has a long list of benefits, which make it a core part of any lawn care plan. One of those benefits that outweighs almost any other in lawn care is that it positively impacts every application and service your lawn receives. Aeration is like having a gateway to the heart of the grass plant, it allows direct access for the nutrients, pesticides, fungicides and stimulants to reach the root zone where they can make the biggest impact.
Scarification
Scarification is a mechanical operation which helps to remove all unwanted organic matter from around the base of the grass plant (thatch) and tidy up any straggly lateral growth from your lawn. The process will also remove moss that will otherwise choke the grass plant and restrict growth.
Your lawn may need scarification to prevent the build-up of debris, which could lead to other problems. When it reaches certain levels, in a dry summer where the soil has become parched, it can become a barrier to re-wetting. Equally, in cooler wetter months, moisture can become trapped in the thatch and provide a perfect bed for both disease and moss to develop and spread
Pest & Disease Control
From time to time, every lawn will suffer from either disease or pests to some degree. Some lawns are more prone than others, due to environmental conditions, host grass species, lawn age and additional stresses on the lawn itself. When your lawn suffers from these unwanted visitors, we are there to help and can put together a plan to keep your lawn safe, or help it recover it back to full health
Wetting Agents
Aqua Boost is our wetting agent that helps the lawn to hold moisture, which slows down deterioration as well as helps the grass to recover from periods of drought or dehydration. It focuses on effectively distributing water through the soil and into the root zone. As water is an increasingly precious resource, wetting agents now play an important role in aiding water conservation and promoting lawn health and quality as part of any considered lawn care schedule.
Growth Regulator
Root Boost is a growth regulator that slows the vertical growth and diverts the energy into both root and lateral growth, creating stronger, healthier, denser lawns with the added bonus of reducing mowing.
Top Dressing
We use Top Dressing at TruGreen for one or all of the following reasons: for improving the soil medium over multiple applications; as a considered approach to thatch reduction; or as the perfect bed for overseeding.
Recovery Boost
A stressed lawn’s perfect tonic. This is a liquid that we apply containing macro and micronutrients, wetting agent, bio-stimulants, amino acids and iron. Each of these elements plays a key role in the lawn bouncing back to health. We use Recovery Boost when we carry out invasive work on the lawn, such as scarification and aeration
A range of these treatments/services will be part of your lawn care package. If you require additional services from the list above, they are available to add to your current lawn care package as a bolt-on to suit your lawn’s bespoke needs.

Seasonal Advice
Seasonal Advice
Keep your lawn healthy all year round with seasonal lawn care advice from Leeds North. We are your local lawn care specialists provide expert treatments for moss, weeds, disease, drainage and nutrition, helping homeowners across Leeds North enjoy greener, stronger lawns in every season.
Spring
Spring is the key time to tackle moss and thatch after a damp UK winter. Shaded, wet lawns are most at risk, as moss can block healthy grass growth and reduce the benefits of fertiliser.
TruGreen’s lawn care plans include moss control, scarification, aeration and balanced fertiliser to improve drainage, strengthen roots and encourage thicker, healthier grass.
TruGreen tips to achieving a great lawn!
- Moss treatment using Ferrous Sulphate
- Scarification to remove mosses and thatch
- Aeration to improve drainage and fertiliser efficiency
- Balanced fertiliser to allow for healthy grass growth
Summer
During summer, UK lawns can suffer from Red Thread, drought stress and poor growth. Damp, compacted or low-nitrogen lawns are especially vulnerable to disease and patchy colour.
Our lawn care packages includes services help manage disease, support healthy growth and protect your lawn through warm weather with the right fertiliser, mowing advice, irrigation guidance and specialist treatments where needed.
TruGreen tips to achieving a great lawn this summer!
- Apply the correct fertiliser in managing warm weather conditions
- Maintain the grass height between 25-30mm
- Apply a fungicide at the first signs of disease
- Apply irrigation when necessary during the cooler part of the day to prevent evaporation
Autumn
Autumn lawn care prepares your grass for colder UK weather and helps protect it from winter stress.
A professional autumn fertiliser, rich in the right nutrients, supports root strength, colour retention and disease resistance, helping your lawn stay healthier through frost, rain and low temperatures.
Scarification and aeration can also remove summer thatch, improve drainage and reduce moss risk before winter sets in.
Prepare your lawn for winter
Removing thatch and improving drainage before winter gives your lawn the best chance of staying strong, healthy and resilient.
Speak to your local TruGreen lawn care specialist about lawn care packages which include scarification, aeration and fertiliser treatments tailored to your lawn’s condition.
Winter
Winter lawn care helps protect grass from snow mould, compaction and poor drainage during cold, wet UK weather.
Snow mould can appear as white or pink patches after snow or prolonged moisture. Prevention includes improving airflow, reducing thatch, managing autumn growth and keeping the lawn well drained.
- Shade and high moisture, accompanied by cool temperatures
- Inadequate circulation of air above the lawn
- Rapid, forced and weak growth of grass in autumn
- Alkaline soil pH, between 7 and 14
- Weak turf, perhaps due to wear or irregular mowing
- Blunt mower blades causing a poor cut
- Compacted soil and poor drainage
To reduce the risk of winter lawn disease, TruGreen recommends regular aeration, scarification, sensible mowing and seasonal fertiliser planning.
- Regular aeration and scarification
- Regular mowing
- Alternating the direction of the cut helps the grass to stand upright and will help air move between the plants
- Lowering nitrogen applications at the end of the Summer / early Autumn period
- The most enthusiastic gardeners can play a role by removing dew with a rake in the mornings.
Terms & Conditions
Frequently Asked Questions
Here at TruGreen, we will happily answer any of your questions about lawns and their care from the condition, to when you can mow after a treatment.
We thought it might be useful to share a few of the frequently asked and answered questions that we handle on a regular basis.
- Do I need to water my lawn? Yes, you will need to water your lawn as your lawn is a plant, and requires feeding. You should give your lawn around 3-4 cm of water per week.
- Can I walk on my lawn after it has been treated? Yes, unless it has had a specialist treatment. We will be sure to let you know if this is the case and how long you should stay off the lawn for.
- Do I need to be in when you come? No, we will always give you prior notice of when we shall be coming to treat your lawn to make you aware.
- I need some additional work, can I add an application to a plan? Absolutely, we have a full range of Bolt-On services that can be added to any plan, making it simple for your lawn to receive whatever it needs.
- Will you still come in bad weather? It will depend on the weather and the services we are due to complete. Unless the weather is extreme, it is very likely that we will be inspecting lawns on our local rounds anyway, so if you don’t hear from us, expect us to still be on our way. We will only ever complete work if conditions are suitable. A good lawn for you is a good lawn for us.
- Are the treatments safe for children and pets? Yes We would advise that you stay off the lawn until our application is dry (usually 2-3 hours), then it is perfectly safe to use the lawn again. For grazing animals where grass or weed forms part of their staple diet, we would normally advise that you rotate their access to the lawn, moving them back onto treated areas if required after 14 days.
- How long will it take before I start seeing results? Each application will be slightly different, so this will largely depend on when you start treatments in the season. Always allow between 10-14 days for applications to activate fully. For all of our visits included in our standard plans, we would expect you to see positive progress on each occasion.
- How soon can I mow the lawn after a treatment? We would recommend you leave the lawn a minimum of 3 days after a treatment has been applied before mowing the lawn, as this allows the products to work effectively.B – If you are receiving a Weed Control, it is also important that you don’t mow the lawn for 2days prior to the treatment so that maximum weed leaf is exposed.
- I have signed up for the TruRenew service. Do I need to sign up for a lawn care plan as well? Yes, the TruRenew service is designed to give the lawn you dreamed of without the cost or long wait of returfing. To keep your lawn healthy and looking new, we highly recommend you sign up for one of our designated plan to maintain your dream lawn.
- How much does TruGreen UK Professional Lawn Care Cost? TruGreen UK offers a range of lawn care packages that include a range of services/treatments to maintain your lawn year-round. They range from different price points to suit your lawn care needs. Our TruLite starts from £17 per month, TruPlus starts from £32 per month and TruMax starts at £51 per month.
