TruGreen Sponsors Children’s Football Club
TruGreen in Gloucestershire, Hereford and Worcester sponsors a local children’s football team.
At TruGreen, we’re invested in all things green. For Mike Simmonds from TruGreen Gloucestershire, Hereford and Worcester, this has recently included getting on the pitch with a local children’s football club, Longlevens Tigers, to sponsor and coach some of their teams.
We sat down with him to get all of the details.
Nurturing a Budding Relationship
Longlevens Tigers are a new team this year, formed as an Under-8s group. Mike got involved this year in the summer, offering his coaching and support when his older son started playing for the Under-10s team. The Under 10s team is coached by two of Mike’s good friends, and when another good friend decided to take on coaching the newly formed Under 8s, where his younger son was playing, Mike was keen to step in and support him and the young players. This included involving his TruGreen business to help the club.
“Like many grassroots sports clubs, funding is vital to ensure the kids have the right equipment and facilities. With other local businesses already sponsoring teams, I was asked to support the Under-8s. It was an easy decision—both to help the club and to raise awareness of TruGreen in the community,” says Mike.
Mike’s sponsorship has since helped the club purchase new TruGreen-emblazoned kits, training gear, match gear and training equipment, for which Mike says the club have been very appreciative:
“The kids and parents have been very grateful for both the sponsorship of TruGreen and other companies that have also got involved. The team really look the part in their TruGreen-branded kits!”
Not to mention, the sponsorship has been lovely for Mike’s family as well, as he gets to spend time coaching his son’s team!
“Bertie is delighted to see me involved, although he knows there’s no special treatment!” Mike says.
“Both Bertie and his older brother Charlie love practising their skills on our beautiful TruGreen lawn at home, and seeing the kids’ happy, smiling faces after their first win, all proudly wearing their kits, has been incredibly rewarding.”
