TruGreen UK Donates 20,000 Plant Tags to RHS Partner Gardens Across the Country

TruGreen UK has donated 20,000 plant tags to RHS Partner Gardens across the country, helping small gardens, independent trusts and local horticultural teams make use of materials that may otherwise have gone unused.

The plant tags had been stored at TruGreen for some time. They were still perfectly usable, but no longer had a clear purpose within the business. Rather than letting them gather dust or throwing them away, the TruGreen team decided to find them a better home.

That led to a conversation with the RHS, where the idea was shared with RHS Partner Gardens to see whether the tags could be useful.

The response showed just how valuable a simple donation can be.

Supporting RHS Partner Gardens with practical donations

TruGreen UK, which provides professional lawn care services across the UK, donated the plant tags to gardens in several areas, including partner gardens in Durham, Scotland and Herefordshire.

Some were delivered by the TruGreen team during a road trip around the country. Others were shipped directly or dropped off by local franchise partners, including a delivery to Moors Meadow Gardens in Herefordshire.

For gardens that manage planting, visitor information, grounds maintenance and seasonal displays, practical items like plant labels can be useful day to day.

One RHS Partner Garden shared:

“Fantastic! Thank you so much for this. I am happy either way and whatever works for you! That is very kind! We are a small independent trust and it might not sound like much for you but for us it makes a difference!”

Why TruGreen chose to donate the tags

The original idea for the tags had been to mark areas of disease or other lawn problems for customers. In reality, TruGreen’s approach to customer care has moved beyond that. Local lawn specialists talk customers through their lawn, explain what is happening and recommend the right support.

Throwing away thousands of usable tags did not feel right.

Ben Stacey, TruGreen UK Brand Leader, said:

“These tags had been sitting unused, but they still had value. Once we realised they could support RHS Partner Gardens, donating them felt like the right thing to do. Visiting some of the gardens and speaking to the people behind them made it even more meaningful. These are teams who care deeply about their gardens, their plants, wildlife and the people who visit them. At TruGreen, we work with customers every day to help them enjoy healthier lawns and better outdoor spaces, so this donation felt closely aligned with what we care about as a brand.”

A shared love of gardens and outdoor spaces

For TruGreen UK, the donation became more than a clear-out.

It highlighted the passion shared across the gardening and lawn care world. From professional lawn care specialists to garden teams and independent trusts, many people are working towards the same goal. Helping outdoor spaces thrive.

The 20,000 plant tags will now be used by RHS Partner Gardens rather than sitting unused in storage.
